North Melbourne GiantsThe association commenced in the 1960's as United Churches and shifted to the North Coburg site in 1971 when a 2 court stadium was built with a grandstand and main court built in 1972. The association's team adopted the name Ciburg Giants in 1973 ans started to progress through the ranks of Basketball Victoria's Premier Division. In 1977 the team won the Victorian title and then the Austrlain Mens's Club Championship, which preceeded the NBL. In 1979, it was runners-up in the Victorian titles but beat the same time the the Australian Championships. In 1980 the team was invited to the World Club's Championshelp held at Crystal Palace in London.In 1981 the club was invited to join the NBL. The association changed its name to Coburg Basketball Association Inc in 1985 and when the team changed its name for NBL purposes, the former name was retained by the Association for its other senior and junior representatives. During the 1980's, the team won the 1989 NBL and runners-up in 1988. The team was also runnrs-up in the Victorian Titles 4 times. In 1990's the team were NBL champions in 1995 before the merger with S/E Melbourne Magic and won 1993 the Victorian Title. After the disbandment in 2004, the licence for the team was onsold to South Dragons franchise which won the 2008 title before disbanding again due to changes in NBL.The team now plays in Big V Div 2 where it won a premiership in 2007. An offshoot of the team, known as N/E Melbourne Arrows competed in the CBA and won a title in 1994.The associations's women's team also won a WNBL title in 1983, a Victorian title in 1988, and 3 Australian Women's Club Championships in 1989-1991.
